The Collaboration: Navigating Global Standards


As the lead product developer and manufacturer for McDonald's marketing agency, we were tasked with creating an expansive, multi-category merchandise suite. Our mission was to balance the fun, playful nature of the McDonald's brand with the industry's most rigorous safety and testing protocols.




Our Multi-Category Development Approach


1. Diverse Product Ecosystem 🛠️

The Brief: Develop a wide-ranging collection that spans multiple categories—including lifestyle accessories, electronics (lighting), stationery, and high-detail collectibles—all while catering to different budget tiers.


Execution: We engineered a versatile range that included everything from premium LED brand signage and character-themed stamps to high-volume PVC charms and silicone wristbands. Each item was designed to maintain a "retail-premium" feel, regardless of the unit cost.




2. "Safety-First" Engineering & Testing 🛡️

Strict Compliance: McDonald's has some of the world's most demanding safety requirements. We managed the entire strict testing phase, ensuring every component—from the small parts in keyrings to the electrical components in lighting—met or exceeded international toy and consumer product safety standards.


Durability & Materials: We selected non-toxic, high-durability materials designed to withstand heavy use, ensuring the agency could distribute the range with absolute confidence.




3. Brand Precision & Character Integration 🎨

IP Collaboration: This project involved the complex integration of McDonald's brand assets with licensed characters (like Hello Kitty/Sanrio). We ensured that colour matching (the iconic Red & Gold) and character proportions were perfect across vastly different manufacturing processes.


Holistic Development: By considering all factors—from factory tooling to final packaging—we ensured a seamless rollout for the agency's campaign.






By serving as the sole developer and manufacturer, we provided the agency with a unified production solution. We successfully delivered a massive, safe, and brand-accurate range that allowed the agency to focus on their marketing strategy while we handled the technical complexities of the factory floor.
